International Forum on Disability Management, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Natalie was very pleased to present a session at the IFDM Conference 2016 in Kuala Lumpur. Held biennially, IFDM is a catalyst for addressing issues of disability on a world stage and is the only global conference dedicated to in-depth discussion of problems, trends and best practices in disability management. Over 1,000 people from more than 30 countries came to learn the latest developments and findings in disability management at the forum. Presenting in the category of Best Practice in Disability Management, Natalie drew on her vast experience and knowledge of return to work and provided simple steps to safely fast-track return to work through influence.

PIEF & Mental Health Training

The vision of the Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF) is to create leading educational programs, initiatives and events focused on the needs of those working in the accident compensation industry.

PIEF are putting together a great calendar of events for 2016 and nb&a group is proud to work with them to present interesting and relevant webinars that meet the industry's needs. Here are some of the upcoming topics nb&a will be presenting: From resistance to acceptance (late April), Managing difficult behaviours (mid June), Know pain, know gain (late August).

PIEF also invited Natalie Bottroff to present a webinar for their members on Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA), a course designed to provide participants with the skills to recognise, respond and support an individual in a mental health crisis. More about MHFA.

2015 Territory Insurance Conference 'Resilient Future'

With the theme of 'resilient future', this conference aims to provide strategies for the future strength of the industry. In her session, 'Influencing return to work', Natalie draws on over 20 years of experience in personal injury and also shares some key steps from the book, 'On the Front Foot'. Participants receive valuable insight and practical steps on how to build rapport, listen effectively and ask the right questions to influence return to work.

Life Rehabilitation Forum SummitAdjusting to Change

Invited by Metlife and SwissRe, nb&a group presented a session 'Mental Health Occupational Therapy Approach to Recovery and Rehabilitation' at the Inaugural LRF Summit 'Thought Leadership in Rehabilitation 2015'. The purpose of this event was to present new and innovative ideas that will advance rehabilitation in the life insurance industry.

Eleni Lucas, Occupational Therapist in Mental Health at nb&a, was the presenter. Our Back on Track Occupational Therapy increases function, productivity and capacity of individuals who have experienced a work related mental health injury. This unique program utilises the skills and expertise of occupational therapists who specialise and are qualified in Mental Health and meet the Australian Competency Standards for Occupational Therapists in Mental Health.

Return to Work MattersAdjusting to Change

nb&a group were pleased to be invited by Return to Work Matters to present our Adjusting to Change - Developing Resilience program at a recent member webinar. nb&a's Registered Psychologist, Karen Stevens, took members through the six core processes of the program, the strategies used and discussed the effectiveness this program has had in addressing thoughts and behaviours which can hinder return to work.

ANZSOM Scientific MeetingANZSOM Scientific Meeting - Thinking outside the square

Natalie Bottroff and Jacqui Stevens recently presented at the Australian and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine (ANZSOM) Annual Scientific Meeting ‘Thinking outside the square – The challenges for tomorrow’s occupational professional’.

Back on Track Mental Health Occupational Therapy was the focus of the presentation and provided the attendees with insight into the benefits and effectiveness of the program, supported by case studies. The program was well received by the audience which was largely made up of medical practitioners from SA and interstate.

nb&a group also exhibited at the event which provided a great opportunity to liaise with industry representatives about our services and programs which have been specifically designed to assist individuals with physical and/or psychological injuries to achieve safe and durable return to work.
