Return to work coordinators play a key role in supporting people with a work injury to remain at or return to work.
Return to Work Coordinator Training
All South Australian businesses that employ 30 or more workers (for three or more months) must have a return to work coordinator. The coordinator must be based in South Australia and have completed Return to Work Coordinator Certification training.
As a return to work coordinator, you will assist employees who have been injured in the workplace to continue to work or come back to work following injury. In collaboration with the person injured, employer and case manager, coordinators are responsible for developing and implementing return to work solutions such as:
- monitoring the progress of the worker and their capacity to return to work
- liaising with medical and return to work professionals
- identifying and offering suitable duties
- assisting to prepare and implement a recovery and return to work plan
- taking steps to prevent the occurrence of further injuries.
ReturnToWorkSA has partnered with RTW Matters https://www.rtwmatters.org/sa/ to provide SA Return to Work Coordinators with a free online resource. This website gives coordinators access to practical injury management tools and instructive articles that summarise the findings of evidence-based research.
Training Delivery Options
Face-to-face (F2F)
Two-day training presented in person by nb&a group’s skilled and knowledgeable return to work consultants and trainers. Full catering provided.

Virtual
Two-day training presented online for participants who prefer to learn from their own office.

Hybrid
A combination of online and face-to-face (either in person or virtual) training. Participants complete six self-paced learning modules, provided online by RTW Matters https://www.rtwmatters.org/sa/, prior to undertaking a one-day, in-person or virtual training. Full catering provided for F2F element when conducted in person.
$319 incl GST
Return to work coordinator training is delivered by nb&a group, experienced facilitators with outstanding expertise in return to work, and run in partnership with ASC Training & Development, a registered training organisation which in 2009 was among the first appointed training providers to deliver this training.
